About Magnus

WHAT THIS IS

Magnus is a personal portfolio. It’s what I build in the time outside a full-time job in credit union business intelligence: real tools, built to see whether an idea holds up once it’s actually built, not just pitched. Most of what’s here is open to explore in full. One or two pieces are further along than the rest. None of it exists because a vendor told a credit union it should.

WHY I BUILT THIS

Built from the other side of the table

The AI vendor landscape is loud. Every tool claims to be transformative. Every pitch deck has the same three logos and the same promise of “transformation.” Most of it is noise: expensive, well-marketed noise that’s hard to actually implement, vague about how it really works, and short on the transformation it promised.

Demos promising 10x gains, conventional code rebranded as an “autonomous agent,” the same promise of transformation every deck makes.

The reality

Homework

Production numbers that land far short of the demo, a black box that can't explain why it denied a loan, and a credit union that owns the compliance failure either way.

Magnus is where I build the tools I wish had existed when I needed them.

Just the signal in the noise.

ABOUT SOPHIA

Sophia Jung is the founder of Magnus. She attended Johns Hopkins for Data Science and Cloud Computing, with a background spanning full-stack engineering at Ford Motor Company and business intelligence leadership at a credit union, where she built a BI department from scratch. Magnus combines that technical depth with direct credit union experience.
